Kathy has been at St. Thomas since 1989 as a member of the choir and assumed the position of director of music on Easter Sunday of 1999. She founded and directed the St. Thomas Cherub choir with Jeannie Randall in 1991. Kathy holds a B.A. in Music Education from UAH, and began her career as a music teacher in the mid 1970’s at the age of 16. She continues to teach piano and voice lessons privately and currently sings with the vocal ensemble, Vox Angelica. She has been a member and appeared as soprano soloist with the Huntsville Schola Cantorum, The Bach Consort, The UAH Concert and Chamber Choirs and Huntsville Community Chorus, and has sung with the Nashville Symphony Chorus. Kathy has written and arranged several pieces of music for the children’s choirs at St. Thomas, and wrote the “St. Thomas Jazz Mass” which has been performed on the day of Pentecost for the past several years.

 

Organist: Susan Fletcher

 

Susan Calvin Fletcher holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Texas, both with a major in composition. She studied composition with Samuel Adler, Bernard Heiden and Hunter Johnson, and piano with Barbara Marquart Sime and Richard Forrest woods. She has several anthems and secular choral pieces published. Since moving to Huntsville in 1990, Susan has been active in various areas of music, singing with the Twickenham singers of North Alabama and occasionally singing in the chorus of Huntsville Opera Theater. She has participated in chamber music performances at UAH, concerts of Women in Music International and at the Lindberg Farm, where she directed a Stradella cantata from the harpsichord. Her own music has been performed here at concerts by the Twickenham Singers and Women in Music International, and at various area churches. In 1992, two of her hymn tunes were among the 12 winning tunes in a nationwide Lutheran hymn competition, and published in the collections, "Be Happy, Saints!" Susan is employed as a Software Analyst at the Army's Software Engineering Directorate.
