Susan Calvin Fletcher holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Texas, both with a major in composition. She studied composition with Samuel Adler, Bernard Heiden and Hunter Johnson, and piano with Barbara Marquart Sime and Richard Forrest woods. She has several anthems and secular choral pieces published. Since moving to Huntsville in 1990, Susan has been active in various areas of music, singing with the Twickenham singers of North Alabama and occasionally singing in the chorus of Huntsville Opera Theater. She has participated in chamber music performances at UAH, concerts of Women in Music International and at the Lindberg Farm, where she directed a Stradella cantata from the harpsichord. Her own music has been performed here at concerts by the Twickenham Singers and Women in Music International, and at various area churches. In 1992, two of her hymn tunes were among the 12 winning tunes in a nationwide Lutheran hymn competition, and published in the collections, "Be Happy, Saints!" Susan is employed as a Software Analyst at the Army's Software Engineering Directorate.
St. Thomas Episcopal Church is a member of the Diocese of Alabama in the Protestant Episcopal Church in the USA, which is the only recognized member of the Anglican Communion in the United States.
